From March 7 to 8, 2024, the project launch and seminar of two national standards, "Performance Specification for Metal Cutting by Laser Processing Machinery" and "Safety of Laser Products Part 14: User's Guide", were successfully held next to Yangcheng Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park. Participating leaders, expert group members, association members and other attending guests paid a site visit to the headquarters of Tianhong Laser and carried out in-depth exchanges.

1. Two National Standards Project Launch and seminar

The meeting was hosted by the Laser Material Processing and Laser Equipment Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Optical Radiation Safety and Laser Equipment, and co-organized by Tianhong Laser. Suzhou Industrial Park Market Supervision Bureau of Quality Standards, the National Standardization Technical Committee for Special Processing Machine Tools, Guangdong University of Technology, the Eleventh Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Shenzhen Inspection and Quarantine Science and Research Institute, Hunan University, and other units of leadership and standard writing group experts attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zeng Lixia, Secretary General of TC284SC1.

Leaders' speech

Mr. Jin Xiaoqing, Director of Quality Standard Department, Market Supervision Administration of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), delivered a speech, saying that SIP has always paid attention to standardization work. In the future, SIP will continue to deepen the standardization work and build a more open, inclusive and innovative international park.

On behalf of TC284, Mr. Jiang Dongsheng, director of TC284 and researcher of the 11th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), delivered a speech, expressing his congratulations and expectations for the launching of the two national standards projects and the successful convening of the seminar.

Prof. Wang Chengyong, Vice President of Guangdong University of Technology and Chairman of TC284SC1, summarized the current work progress of TC284SC1 standard committee and the work plan for 2024 in his speech.

As the leader of the secretariat unit, Hu Rui, general manager of Han’s Laser Intelligent Equipment Group Co., Ltd. thanked the members and experts for their support to the work of the substandard committee and introduced the results of the substandard committee's work in the past 15 years.

Suzhou Tianhong Laser Co., Ltd. general manager Jin Chaolong as a leader of the seminar organizer, in his speech, first of all welcome to participate in the two national standards project to start the seminar and the leadership of experts and friends, and committed to do a good job as a host of the seminar's services, while hoping that the seminar a complete success.

Seminar on two national standards

During the meeting, Mr. Jin Zhaolong, chairman of Tianhong Laser and leader of the drafting team of the national standard project "Performance Specification for Metal Cutting by Laser Processing Machinery", introduced the project of the national standard "Metal Cutting". Mr. Jin firstly explained the background of the standard revision and the source of the project in terms of the necessity, advancement, feasibility and significance of the revision of the national standard of "metal cutting". Then he introduced the scope and content of the revision of the national standard of "Metal Cutting" as well as the project schedule planning. According to the introduction, the project plans to complete all the documents by the end of October 2024 for approval.

Mr. Li Xiangzhao, head of the drafting team of the national standard project "Safety of Laser Products Part 14: User's Guide" and director of Shenzhen Institute of Metrology and Quality Inspection (SIMEQI), introduced in detail the relevant contents and progress of the draft to the participants on the national standard project "User's Guide".

After all participants discussed the draft standard working group, Mr. Wang Chengyong, leader of the expert group and vice president of Guangdong University of Technology, summarized the meeting on behalf of the expert group.

2. Site visit to Tianhong Laser

After the meeting, all the participants visited Tianhong Laser on the spot, highly praised Tianhong Laser's innovative development concept, and carried out warm exchanges and interactions.

The successful convening of this kick-off and seminar has laid a good foundation and opening for the development of two standards, namely, Performance Specification for Metal Cutting of Laser Processing Machinery and Safety User Guide.
